Sunrise Festival – January 9, 2010
This celebration of the return of the sun is held annually to celebrate the sun rise after a month of darkness. Originally started by the Inuvik Fire Fighters, the Sunrise Festival Committee raises funds for the celebration through the sale of t-shirts and through corporate donations. The celebration begins with bonfires being lit to warm everyone up a bit. Once the bonfires have burnt down, the fireworks begin.

Muskrat Jamboree – Springtime festival
Organized by a volunteer committee, the Muskrat Jamboree is a chance for the people of Inuvik to play host to friends from the other communities in the Delta in their version of a series of Spring Carnivals. Festivities include a King and Queen contest, a talent show, outdoor sports and games including snowmobile racing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, and traditional events.

Top of the World Ski Championship – Springtime
Organized by the Inuvik Ski Club, this weekend of racing features competitions for the young and old.

Break-up!! – May
An event that is watched for and visited regularly by all residents of the Delta is the break-up of the Mackenzie River. Will it be a slow, quiet one, or a crashing, noisy show this year – be there to witness one of the great rivers of the world showing off its power.

Inuvik Petroleum Show – June 23rd and 24th , 2010
Organized by the Town of Inuvik, this show sells out every year and books up the entire town. Be sure to book your accommodation early. 2010 is the 10th annual show.

National Aboriginal Day / Midnight Madness

Held on the longest day of the year, June 21, this celebration of aboriginal culture and the beginning of summer includes barbeques, music, and kids games.

Ride for Sight – June
Organized by the local bikers (yes we do have a few), this fund raiser features a trip down the Dempster to officially kick off the summer riding season.

Canada Day – July 1
Organized by the Royal Canadian Legion, McInnes Branch, and the Town of Inuvik – Celebrations take place all day long beginning with a parade at noon and continuing through the day until the wee hours of the morning with barbeques, games and music.

The Great Northern Arts Festival – July 9th to 18th, 2010
Visit the GNAF website to view details about their fabulous show. Meet artists from across the Arctic, take part in workshops to learn a new skill, or watch a new carving or painting take shape. Book early for this world-class event.

Midway Lake Music Festival – August Long-weekend
Held at Midway Lake, just south of the community of Fort McPherson, the Midway Lake Music Festival is a Delta tradition. Bring your tent and camp out at the Festival, or just visit for the day – you won’t be disappointed by the music, singing and dancing.

Demolition Derby – September
An annual event in Inuvik – come and watch them smash-em-up!

Delta Daze
Help the Lion’s Club raise money and celebrate the last of the fall weather before winter sets in. Events usually include the Gold Bar raffle and Steak Barbeque, Casino, Bingo, Helicopter rides, and more.

Christmas Craft Sale – November
Held the month before Christmas, this craft sale features crafts from all around the Beaufort Delta Region. Don’t say you’re done your Christmas Shopping until you’ve visited our sale.

International Curling Bonspiel
Organized by the Inuvik Curling Club - curl in the International! A 24-hour spiel that is bound to be fun for all – great prizes and lots of competition.
